Here are the following requirements to get started in fencing tournaments. Please note that the following information refers to sanctioned tournaments only. Unrated non-sanctioned tournaments such as club events do not apply.
All competitive fencers require a competitive CFF License, if you have obtained an associate license you can upgrade your CFF License through the Alberta Fencing Association website.
Competitive equipment:
Fencers are required to have the following working equipment:
Rated 350N or above Mask with additional strap and conductive bib
Rated 350N or above Jacket, Pants and Plastron
Chest protector with certified soft cover mandatory for all women and all children U13 or lower
Working Lame
Fencing Glove without tears or holes
Long socks that cover to the lower edges of pants
x2 body wires
x2 head wires
x2 working foil blades (U11 require Size 0 Blades)

(If you wish to fence in the USA you will need to register for a USAF Fencing ID, Fencing in a North American Cup NAC requires a USAF Foreign License at no cost as long as you have a valid CFF competitive license)
